In an international student city
Maastricht is known as a vigorous student city, which attracts many foreign students, up to 50% of the total are foreignstudents coming from Germany, Belgium but also China and Japan. More than 10 percent of the inhabitants are students, and almost half of those are international. In total almost 20 percent of the Maastricht population (more than 122.000 inhabitants) are involved with higher education in the city – Zuyd Hogeschool and Maastricht University – as students or employees.
Student rooms
Some UM faculties are located in the city centre, but others are just outside the centre, all close to the Annadal Campus. Many exchange students rent a furnished room in one of the buildings of the UM Guesthouse, which are all located at the Annadal Campus. You rent a room together with other students.
You cook and eat together and turn your student house into a home. Luckily there is not a long waiting list for student rooms at Annadal Campus.
Annadal Campus
Annadal Campus is situated at the Brouwersweg and the Becanusstraat in the district Maastricht North-West, the neighbourhood Brusselsepoort. The complex is favourably located due to its proximity of the old city centre and University faculties. The neighbourhood Brusselsepoort has several amenities of regional and interregional importance. The large indoor shopping centre “BrusselsePoort” is located just around the corner of the Annadal Campus. The neighbourhood of Brusselsepoort is easily accessible not only by car but also by public transport.
The neighbourhood is intersected by the Via Regia, one of the main roads to Belgium and borders the busy roads Sint Annalaan and Statensingel. Due to the vicinity of the city centre, the shopping centre and other facilities, parking can be challenging in this area. The onsite parking facilities of the Annadal Campus are therefore a true valuable asset.
Maastricht Housing
Maastricht Housing is the official housing agency for Maastricht University, Zuyd University of Applied Sciences and the Jan van Eyck Academy. This online platform combines all the student housing offers in Maastricht and is accessible from anywhere in the world.
